At Northwest Territories Tourism, it is our expectation that any of our local tour providers uphold the following standards to be part of our travel trade program. These include:

  • Providing owner/operator contact information
  • Be in good standing with all applicable licenses, insurance and legislative requirements
  • Has an email and telephone number that is operational year-round. If closed for the season, they provide automated responses through voice mail, answering service and/or email
  • Has marketing materials such as brochure, rack cards, a website and social media presence
  • Responds within 24 hours year-round to all requests, inquiries, reservations and cancellations
  • Has been market ready for at least one year or has successfully a tourism business working with the travel trade
  • Has a published consumer billing, payment and cancellation policy
  • Offers wholesales, net or commissionable rates to the Travel Trade throughout the negotiated period and provides these rates at least one year in advance of the selling season and guarantees those prices during the season
  • Has trade-oriented booking, payment and cancellation policies for groups and fully independent travellers
  • Provides image/rich media files in formats required by the travel trade for marketing purposes along with up-to-date product information sheets
